Overview

The Role: The post holder will be the "go to" person for any employee with any compliance issues or concerns, who will proactively arrange and deliver appropriate staff training and refresher awareness programmes, undertaking periodic and "ad hoc" auditing and review to monitor compliance with internal policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. In the event of issues being identified, the post holder will recommend appropriate measures to address required remediation and actions required to prevent re-occurrence and to work with the operational management to ensure effective implementation. JOB FUNCTIONS: Receipt, from Sales or other relevant department, of fully completed Appendix 1 forms, signed by Responsible Person and Responsible Senior Executive. Review and assessment of the content of the Appendix 1; conduct of desktop research and identification of additional information requirements. Collation of results and preparation of memorandum in support of Validation Committee consideration of the proposed counterparty/transaction. Creation and maintenance of appropriate local administrative procedures to support effective, timely CDDP activities, including records management. Contributing to the generation, maintenance & delivery of internal training and refresher programmes. Unfair Competition Act: Contributing to the generation, maintenance & delivery of internal training and refresher programmes Conduct annual survey of UK staff in order to determine membership of trade associations and other external bodies that might present a higher risk from inappropriate behaviours. Deliver enhanced awareness training and guidance for personnel engaged with trade associations. Trade Controls: Interface with regulatory departments, including UK Export Control Organisation; DIT; HMRC; MoD; HM Treasury Interface with external advisers ECCN identification of goods to be supplied for export/re-export UK & EU: MoD F680s, Rating Enquiries, Individual and Open Export Licence Applications, SPIRE administration US ITAR & EAR: DDTC Registrations, Commodity Jurisdiction Requests, Licence Applications, Technology Transfer Agreements; OFAC: Sanction regimes and Specially Designated Persons End-User Undertakings Denied Party Screening - full implementation and maintenance, including adjudication on "hits" identified by our installed screening software The job holder will assume personal responsibility for preparing and submitting licence applications with respect to transactions identified as being particularly complex or sensitive. Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant equipment and provide advice, as necessary, to the Development Team on the trade control implications of component selection and product designs EMPLOYEE COMPLIANCE: The job holder will be expected to comply with any reasonable operational instruction or procedures relating to Company policies, reporting and controls. In particular Section 7 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 provides a duty on every employee, while at work, to take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work. It also places a duty on employees to cooperate with their employer so far as is necessary to enable their duties to be complied with including the appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Failure to comply with this duty may result in the Company invoking the disciplinary procedure KEY ATTRIBUTES: Significant demonstrable experience in the majority of the key areas Good communicator - able to assess and adjust presentation and content to target audience Independent-minded - whilst effectively contributing to a team, willing and able to draw attention to unaddressed or unresolved issues and significant residual risks Pragmatic and commercially alert - effective at identifying and assessing risk, mitigations and risk management Experienced in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, plus Microsoft Project (or similar) QUALIFICATIONS: Degree Level or equivalent.
