Overview

Lead UX Designer The Money and Pensions Service vision is everyone making the most of their money and pensions. This new organisation brings together the free services delivered by the Money Advice Service, The Pensions Advisory Service and Pension Wise. We are an Arms-Length organisation, sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions, with a joint commitment to ensuring that people have access and guidance to the information they need to make effective financial decisions over their lifetime. The organisation will also engage with HM Treasury, which is responsible for policy on financial capability and debt advice. Working hand-in-hand with stakeholders throughout the UK, the Money and Pensions Service will ensure that money and pensions guidance is available to those that need it, adapting to people's changing needs throughout their lives. The Lead UX Designer will interpret evidence-based research and incorporate this into their work to help us deliver our customer focused vision across all digital channels. The role will work with an existing team of talented UX designers who are responsible for the Money and Pension Service site as well as our service brands, Money Advice Service, Pension Wise and The Pensions Advisory Service. The role offers the chance to own and drive improvements to the UX design process and site-wide journeys, whilst also influencing the design of our rapidly evolving platform. Key Accountabilities Developing, championing and being the guardian of the UX design process and systems across the business, as well as acting as the quality assurance lead for all UX work. Taking an evidence and research lead approach to identifying and understanding the needs of our users. Able to translate user stories and propose design approaches or services to meet these needs and engage in meaningful interactions and relationships with users. Always puts the users first and can manage competing priorities. Ability to listen to the needs of the technical and business stakeholders and interpret between them. Able to manage senior stakeholders' expectations and be flexible, is capable of proactive and reactive communication. Facilitates difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders. Visualises, articulates, solves complex problems and concepts, and makes disciplined decisions based on available information and research evidence. Able to move from analysis to synthesis and design intent. Such skills include demonstration of the ability to apply logical thinking, gathering and analysing information and evidencing key performance indicators. Facilitating customer testing sessions at our lab facility to ensure products in development are meeting user needs and expectations Creating experience maps / process flows to inform the wider customer journey through our service and other advice agencies and partners. Experience and expertise: Extensive experience working in a UX design role, using research and customer insight to develop and delivery simple user experiences that deliver business outcomes. Proven experience creating and documenting UX design systems and related processes. Ability to create lean UI and UX documentation and assets including sketches, wireframes, low and high fidelity prototypes, sitemaps & specification documents. Able to collaborate with user researchers and represent the needs of users internally. Understands the difference between user needs and desires of the user. Able to champion user research to focus on all users. Can prioritise and define approaches to understand the user story, guiding others in doing so. Able to work collaboratively within a group, proactively networking with others and engaging in varying types of feedback choosing the appropriate time and ensuring the discussion sticks. Ability to perform user experience audits and heuristic evaluations. Extensive experience working with UX design systems and template/component-based CMS environments. Extensive experience designing experiences across mobile, tablet and desktop environments. Extensive experience planning and facilitating user testing through multiple mediums (labs, online etc…) as part of the UX design process. Strong understanding of Accessibility and Usability best practices and how to incorporate them into the design process. Desirable Experience working with web analytics packages such as Google Analytics 360 or Omniture. Understanding of cognitive behaviour and behavioural science design techniques. Experience leading and mentoring small UX teams.
