The opportunity Be a part of our group services team that provides support to all businesses across our five global hubs, based in our corporate head office in London. The bid writer plays a key role in achieving our growth objectives by supporting the business throughout the bid process and delivering compelling copy in line with the company’s brand, position and processes. As a key member of the appointed bid team, the bid writer develops and translates win strategies and business objectives into smart, consistent, customer-focused, error-free documents and presentations, project managing their own activity in line with department bid plans. The role is for a fixed-term contract for 9 months. Your responsibilities will include: Write the bid Answering plan/storyboard with the team to understand the question or scoring mechanisms and set a clear path for the bid team to deliver in line with your strategy. Taking a proactive role in the writing of standard content, CVs and project profiles - closing gaps where possible by interviewing/questioning relevant parts of the business. Proofreading or copy editing responses to ensure compliant, compelling, benefits-driven copy. Taking the lead in writing compelling, factual, focused executive summaries. Continuous improvement Capturing all new content within bid content library (aftercare). Recording and sharing lessons learned and best practice. About you A degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Professional memberships in APMP or CIM. Working in a professional services environment, ideally built environment. With 5 years’ experience focused on bidding is beneficial. Extensive writing experience in a professional and/or journalistic environment. Expertise in translating business, brand strategy to content and communications. Proficiency in transforming complex technical information into clear, concise and compelling content. Understanding of the building or property industry. Very high standard of written English, skilled in editing copy to correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with the ability to shape compelling responses. Skilled to manage delivery through direct reports and colleagues, including technical employees at all levels, bid colleagues, marketing and communications and external suppliers. Skilled in supervising employees, to include delegating responsibility, training and evaluating performance. Ability to bring positive challengers by driving and getting the best out of the team. Strong commitment to internal client care. Strong attention to detail and error-free delivery. Flexibility and open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within compressed timeframes. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with team, colleagues and stakeholders in a professional, consistent manner. Ability to exercise judgment to solve tactical problems where the answer is not apparent.
