Overview
Summary We’re looking for an enthusiastic Front end developer/ Web Designer to join an ambitious design and marketing consultancy, overlooking the harbour in Poole, Dorset. Our focus is providing digital solutions (primarily web design and online marketing) to members of the medical industry. Company details Established in 2000, we’re a steadily growing agency working almost exclusively with the medical profession with a portfolio in excess of 450 ongoing clients. Our core business is designing and managing websites for individual dental practices but have expanded our offering to include a full range of graphic design services ranging from logo creation and literature design though to new brand concepts - as well as a full range of online marketing options. We have a dynamic team of developers/ designers who work closely together in a 'self-managing’ group, meeting daily and communicating constantly to ensure the optimum outcome - offering advice and opinion. They’re also encouraged to take an interest in, and input ideas relating to all aspects of the business. Job description We are looking to replace a long-standing member of our design team with an enthusiastic, creative and able candidate who will contribute ideas and creativity in abundance. The ideal candidate will have the ability to learn and develop in a self-managing environment but be very much a team player. The role will require the candidate to design, develop and build bespoke and creative websites from scratch utilising Photoshop, Wordpress, etc. You will also be involved in updating and amending existing client’s websites, ensuring the quality of the design remains high even with the various new requirements Role responsibilities To produce innovative designs based upon a brief provided by account managers, together with information drawn from client calls - which the candidate will be involved in. Designs are then amended considering client and colleagues’ feedback and once the design has been signed off, the candidate will build/ populate the web site. The candidate will also be responsible for updating and amending existing clients’ websites as required. Skills A suitable candidate will have experience in producing creative web design concepts, then building the site utilising Javascript and CSS to ensure a dynamic and innovative web presence for the client. Experience A minimum of one years experience in a design-related role. Preference for someone who has 1years’ experience in a production environment real-world: so, they have a good ability to work collaboratively, and to deadlines. Mentality A glass-half-full person; someone motivated, who sees opportunity to make something great even on the smallest job. Creativity A strong portfolio is a must. We're looking for someone who has real creative flair, and the best way to judge that is a portfolio showing off their best work. An ability to critique other designs and then offer constructive feedback in a positive and constructive manner is essential - as is the ability to receive and assimilate design feedback from many sources in the same way. Required An interesting portfolio exhibiting creative digital design work Excellent design and typography skills. An in-depth knowledge and aptitude with Adobe Creative Suite An understanding of what makes a Search engine friendly design A working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JS. An understanding of RWD principles Good communication and organisational skills A proactive ’can-do, will-do’ attitude to be successful and learn. Ability to work on own initiative, under direction and within a team, as appropriate. Able to share opinions/ ideas. Willing to take 'design changes’/ comments on board. Desired: Further Education (Graphic Design / Art / Communication / Digital Media). Illustration and drawing skills. Animation skills. Knowledge of SEO.
