Overview

HEAD OF OPERATIONS - EXHIBITIONS - EVENTS - SW LONDON - £45-55K We are looking for an experienced candidate to head up operations for all of the conferences, meetings and awards of a specialist events and B2B publishing business. The role involves managing a team of four who currently organise around 40 awards, meetings and conferences per year. You will help to coordinate the companies’ large exhibitions with external operations companies. We are looking for a dynamic person to bring their ideas and experience to produce quality events to the budget agreed. Key responsibilities include: Successfully manage events, in particular taking direct responsibility for larger events. This includes project managing all aspects of the conference to include: Create and manage budgets, forecasting and final reconciliation of financial outcome Venue sourcing, pre-planning meetings and site inspections, as required Manage all suppliers and logistics during the event (e.g.venue, AV and caterers) Sponsorship/exhibition fulfilment and speaker management Coordinate design/content of relevant published materials (e.g. electronic/website) Assist in the promotion of events, involving event website content/other media Proactively work with and manage internal customers and maintain good working relationships to deliver allocated events. Coordinate and liaise with external operations companies for exhibitions. Coordinate regular meetings with event directors Negotiated group contra deals Manage budgets Proactively promote new ideas and implement solutions. Source new suppliers and negotiate preferable rates, as required Work with the marketing team to develop all event collateral within brand guidelines The successful candidate will have: Minimum three years’ experience of planning, managing and running conferences and awards Highly self-motivated, hard-working, energetic and able to lead a team Able to work outside of core contracted hours from time to time Able to travel Excellent time management and project management skills with a structured and logical approach to problem solving and the ability to work on and meet multiple project deadlines simultaneously Strong IT and admin skills including proficiency in MS office application Excellent command of oral and written English Exemplary organisational skills to plan and manage a complex workload of events to the highest standard from start to finish, whilst meeting the society’s key objectives of quality and cost effectiveness.
