Overview
Business Development Manager (Software) Package: £40 - 50k Bonus 35 hours per week Location: Nottingham regular travel as needed There’s NO COLD SELLING here … that’s right, you’ll be talking to people that actually want to talk to you … crazy right? But before you click apply already, let me fill you in … Working closely with the MD, you’ll be integral to their growth plans. There are sales teams that you will collaborate with, along with some direct reports but you are one of a kind in the business - the tip of the spear. They’ll make appointments and do the after-sales support but you’ll set the stage with strategy and influence the products with feedback to the devs who make the stuff you champion, even better. You’ll be trusted to be the voice of the customer, so will have a real impact on shaping the software range. Hopefully it’s becoming clear that this isn’t just another software sales role, it is much more than that If you’re hungry for commission, thrill-of-the-chase kind of business development, then this honestly isn’t the right role … If you’re looking to get invested in the success of the business, curate relationships, promote software products that sell themselves and work somewhere where you’re trusted to add value by building and delivering a holistic strategic growth plan that includes marketing, sales and other areas of the business - scroll down now and hit apply. You’ll have the luxury of being discerning with sales, your job will be not to get every client onboard, but the best suited clients who’ll most benefit- that’s why there is no OTE, you won’t be a performing monkey dancing to the tune of KPIs. You’ll get to travel to meet and demonstrate for clients at conventions whilst keeping your beady eye on the competition too. My shopping list of expectations is simple … Besides the usual staples, I’ll be looking for someone who has real presence / gravitas, really understands people, is socially intelligent, a diligent listener, a tentative speaker and someone who has a networking / relationship building mindset - I guess what people sometimes call a business 'head’ / entrepreneurial spirit / charisma-led attitude to business Most of the current sales are done through warm leads and enquiries, although they want someone to push and carve new avenues for sales rather than passive sales that are happening now. There are different products, some which have an extremely short sales cycle but also products which can have up to a 6-month cycle. Summary: This is B2B role - Regular travel will be expected Relationship driven - absolutely not salesey Strategy led - evaluate and improve the sales structure and process - including CMS / tools etc e.g., salesforce or other such tool. Intelligence based decisions - ability to analyse CMS data. i.e. conversion rates, areas of action; etc Marketing mindset Tip of the spear - responsible for designing and delivering sales strategy An understanding of IT, Software Sales lifecycle. e-Commerce in particular would be a real plus The nuts and bolts are available in more detail but these are the key highlights Yay - you made it, you’re still here, time to hit apply, get in touch, ask me lots of questions.
