Overview

  Refuge is the UK’s largest provider of specialist services for victims of all forms of gender-based violence (domestic, sexual, so called ‘honour’ violence, modern slavery and human trafficking, prostitution, forced marriage, stalking and FGM). Every day we support over 6,000 women and children in our national network of services.  These include Independent Domestic, Sexual and Gender-based Violence Advocacy services (IDVAs/ISVAs and IGVAs), community outreach, specialist refuge accommodation, sanctuary services, culturally-specific services and the Freephone 24 Hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline. We advise Government and lobby hard to keep violence against women and girls high on the public agenda. We run award-winning prevention and public education campaigns, manage a busy press office and website, and we are an accredited training provider. We give a voice to the voiceless. As Events fundraising executive, you will be responsible for recruiting and engaging supporters to raise income for Refuge by delivering our events fundraising programme, including London Marathon, challenge events and running events. This will include recruitment, engagement and motivation of supporters, to maximise all income opportunities. You will also be working with the Events and community fundraising manager to develop and deliver a new event product for Refuge. To be the successful candidate you will have experience of working in a fundraising environment, ideally in an events fundraising capacity. You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to motivate and recognise the efforts of our event supporters, as well as have an unquestionable attention to detail. You will thrive on a busy but rewarding workload. It is essential that you are willing and able to work in a positive and proactive manner, under your own initiative, whilst keeping abreast of latest competitive charity marketplace developments, adhering to best practice fundraising guidelines. You will be a passionate fundraiser who is looking to further their career within an organisation working to support women and children escaping domestic violence.
