This is an overview of the role: The role of the Lead DevOps is to work under the strategic direction of the Principal DevOps to technically lead and mentor a team of DevOps professionals and implement new technologies and automation across various existing and new systems to enable efficiencies across business and digital processes. Reporting to the Principal DevOps you will manage, support and enhance DevOps production services across the Homes England digital portfolio. You will also be part of multi-disciplinary agile project teams and will design and implement DevOps to meets user needs contributing from Discovery to LIVE. At Homes England we thrive on continuous improvements and always seek better tools, processes and services for our users so it is essential that you have experience in technically implementing new DevOps solutions, running a team of DevOps professionals and have been exposed to managing, implementing and maintaining DevOps in both LIVE and non-production services. The purpose of the role is to be an enabler by leveraging tools and techniques to remove repetitive tasks using automation and making business and digital processes more efficient and lean where possible. The DevOps team will provide services to other project teams to ensure that they follow the guidelines, best practices and toolsets that have been authorised to be used at Homes England. The DevOps team will be responsible and accountable for all DevOps implementation across projects and LIVE services. The successful person will be responsible for: - Working on complex business and digital problems and using your critical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills you will be able to provide lean solutions to the problems posed either by providing an automated solution or improved lean business process. - Handling complex problems, you will have good interpersonal and communication skills so that you can explain solutions in non-technical terms to various stakeholders and users. - Taking into consideration the opinions of others and promoting an environment where all involved fell empowered to express their views and ideas. - Having autonomy to implement the DevOps strategy under the supervision of the Principal DevOps. - Having a sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the overall strategic goals of Homes England. In order to complete the responsibilities for this role, the successful candidate will have: - Experience in technically managing a team of DevOps professionals in an Agile environment using toolsets such as PowerShell, Terraform, Visual Studio and/or Azure DevOps. As a technical professional you will also be skilled in creating and maintaining YAML files and configuring and deploying Azure services such as Docker containers on Kubernetes. - Knowledge of configuring and automating CI/CD build and release pipelines for ASP.NET Core using Docker containers on Azure DevOps. - The ability to identify processes and, with automation, make them lean, thus, providing benefits realisation to users. - Experience in automating processes for requirements and defects life-cycles using a DevOps toolchain. - Automation experience extending to cloud environments and services such as using IaaS for the provisioning of infrastructure assets required by software development project teams. - The skills and appetite to further learn how to configure automated builds that incorporates NPM packages, unit tests, integration tests and UX automation using different pipeline strategies.
