Head of policy, leadership, project management, social policy, policy analysis, research, campaigns, comms Your new company A leading charity works on behalf of the more than one in four children in the UK growing up in poverty. Providing training, advice and information to make sure hard-up families get the financial support they need. We also carry out high profile legal work to establish and protect families' rights. Your new role The postholder provides leadership and management to policy and research staff, in particular taking a lead on our policies on child poverty, our quantitative research programme and our policy positions on social security, including universal credit. They will also contribute to our fundraising and programme planning. 1. Provide management to staff in the policy and research function 2. Together with the Director of Policy, Rights and Advocacy to plan and oversee the design and delivery of programmes and projects to agreed strategic and operational objectives 3. To participate in a programme of external and internal communications about policy and research To ensure the analysis of a range of statistical data sets, including Households Below Average Income 4. To ensure the analysis of a range of statistical data sets, including Households Below Average Income 5. To lead and take an active interest in our work on reform of social security 6. To represent CPAG at speaking engagements, events, relevant coalitions and networks 7. To write regular articles and updates for internal and external 8. Develop and maintain relationships with key people in government, the public sector, academics, and charity sector What you'll need to succeed Essential Team leadership and project management skills Understanding of relevant social policy and rights issues Experience of working in a public policy environment to deliver change Proven track record of social policy work including evidence of published or written work Substantial experience of carrying out research and policy analysis on poverty, social security, children or related issues to inform and support strategic objectives Knowledge of social research methods and ability to write successful bids for research funding Educated to degree level or equivalent Ability to support and supervise staff as required Strong project management skills Excellent analytical skills and the ability to develop evidence-based positions on complex areas of public policy Ability to write and oversee the development of high quality briefings, consultation responses, reports and other policy and campaigning outputs Ability to think strategically and respond speedily and effectively to external developments Ability to interpret a range of statistical datasets including Households Below Average Income (HBAI) and other national datasets What you'll get in return £39,910 - £44,111 - plus a non-contributory (5% of salary) Group Personal Pension Scheme.
