Overview

To provide leadership and management to the policy and research staff, including contributing to fundraising and programme planning. To take a lead role in developing sector-leading evidence-based policy positions and solutions to support the charity's influencing and campaigns work. Client DetailsLeading children's charityDescriptionProvide management to staff in the policy and research function to ensure that they are appropriately motivated to perform to their full potential individually and working in project teams, including through regular supervisions and appraisals Together with the Director of Policy, Rights and Advocacy to plan and oversee the design and delivery of programmes and projects to agreed strategic and operational objectives which contribute to the eradication of child poverty in the UK To participate in a programme of external and internal communications about policy and research work, including news management of policy and research projects and programmes To work closely with our Senior Analyst to develop our own programme of work, develop our own analytical capacity, including acquiring key datasets and developing our own modelling capacity To provide lead policy expertise in advising the CEO, Director of Policy, Rights and Advocacy and other staff on the causes, effects and solutions to child poverty; develop and evaluate evidence-based policy positions and political trends as appropriate To take a lead role in the development of ideas and proposals for policy and research projects and policy publications to support our influencing and campaigning activities. To take a lead role in undertaking, commissioning and managing research projects for publication, including developing relationships with funders and securing funding. Develop and maintain relationships with key people in government, the public sector, academics, and charity sector organisations whose support is needed for the successful delivery of the charity's programmes and funding.ProfileSubstantial experience of carrying out research and policy analysis on poverty, social security, children or related issues to inform and support strategic objectives Experience of working in a public policy environment to deliver change Knowledge of social research methods and ability to write successful bids for research funding Experience of using quantitative and qualitative research material to support public policy influencing work and campaigns Excellent analytical skills and the ability to develop evidence-based positions on complex areas of public policy Ability to write and oversee the development of high-quality briefings, consultation responses, reports and other policy and campaigning outputs Ability to think strategically and respond speedily and effectively to external developments Ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders Team leadership and project management skills Excellent written and oral communication skillsJob Offer£ 39,910 - £ 44,111 plus benefits
