Overview

We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company. Defining and improving how the company collects, manages and leverages internal and external data sources to identify, build and optimise profitable services Using similar techniques to optimise the company’s internal and supply partner operations as the company scale. Developing solutions and models using appropriate machine learning approaches (including both well established techniques and the latest in research) Defining and leading a portfolio of data science projects that can deliver business value, using your deep understanding of the business and the company customers and partners Playing a proactive, leading role in providing data science input to product strategy, design and road-mapping, supporting to select appropriate solutions to business opportunities Working with the business across research and day-to-day activity to provide tools, insights and BI to support decision making Guiding the development of the company data and BI infrastructure, ensuring the business is equipped to make data-driven decisions and that the company have the infrastructure for scale Recruiting and leading a team of data scientists, engineers and analysts as the company scale Educating the business to operationalise the use of data throughout the company Representing (Client Name) externally, at conferences and events, positioning (Client Name) as a leader in the use of data to build a global mobility player You have a strong experience in working in a data science team within a scaling organisation Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in STEM (Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Economics) Excellent knowledge of data science tools and languages, including, R, Python coding, SQL and production tools. Deep understanding of fundamentals of probability and statistics Deep interest in the field of behavioural economics; fascinated by why people make certain decisions Have experience working with large location data sets Be able to think big and also dive into the detail when necessary Have excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with various different areas of the business 7 years of experience working in data teams 3 years of experience in managing a high-performance team, ability to attract, retain and develop top talents in a role such as VP of Insights, Data Director, Head of Data or similar Be a self-starter who is comfortable in a fast-paced and changing startup environment You have experience leading a growing data science team in a scale up company You have experience working in a transportation or logistics company You have worked in teams focused on both end-customer growth (including pricing, retention etc.) and supply/fleet optimisation
