Job Description
Our client is a well respected London based hospital and we are excited to offer the role of an Oncology Ward Manager. Job Summary As the Oncology Ward Manager you will have responsibility for the leadership and the safe management of the clinical area by maintaining a visible and professional presence in a clinical setting. You will provide clinical leadership within defined areas by acting as a positive role model, who practices evidence-based care, to ensure high standards of clinical care. Role and Responsibilities: * Adheres to the organisation's values and mission/vision in his/her daily work and interaction with others. * Works collaboratively with the ward Matron to implement and achieve the unit's short and long term goals which are aligned with the organisational vision/mission and the nursing strategy. * Maintains effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver a high quality of care. * Acts as clinical expert for junior staff. * Actively seeks ongoing feedback on performance to make necessary changes/adjustments. * Consistently models effective leadership through personal behaviour. * Works collaboratively to recruit and select exceptional staff, with appropriate skills. * Implements effective strategies to retain quality staff. * Ensures staff rosters which maximise patient care and skill mix is appropriate. * Actively participates in an effective staff performance and appraisal system. * Maintains department costs and staff costs in line with budget and worked hours/Units of Services (UOS).
