United Kingdom - Midlothian, Edinburgh Job Summary Job Summary Are you an ambitious Structural Engineer with strong experience in the design and construction of Water retaining structures? The AECOM Water engineering team are looking to appoint a Structural Engineer into our centrally based Edinburgh Tanfield office. The Team Our Water team has delivered some of the most high-profile projects in Scotland and internationally, so your projects and clients will be varied and interesting. Examples of our current projects and clients: + The team are primarily working on Water Industry structures, principally new Pumping Station supply schemes for Scottish Water, involving storage tanks, chambers, large pumping station substructures and superstructures. + We also have involvement in small Hydro Scheme developments throughout Scotland along with Wastewater Treatment Plant buildings, tanks and chambers in Bahrain. + Our ongoing project portfolio includes structural aspects for Dams and Reservoirs, involving spillway, access bridges and valve towers remediation throughout Scotland, together with River flood protection schemes, weir and fish pass structures. + Recent prestigious projects include significant structural engineering design as part of the award winning Deephams WWTW project in London. The Role As Structural Engineer, you will prepare outlines and detailed designs and deliver detailed calculations, drawings and particularly RC work. This will require the ability to work independently and alongside fellow team members. Minimum Requirements Required/Essential Skills & Experience + The role requires a good Structural Engineering background, understanding and experience, particularly in the design and construction of water retaining and other concrete structures. + Design knowledge and experience in other common construction materials would also be beneficial. + Must have good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of the team to prepare outline and detailed designs and deliver detailed calculations, drawings and particularly RC work. + The candidate shall demonstrate the ability to design to current codes, have good capabilities in 3D Finite Element structural analysis modelling software. + Relevant experience is a design team environment is required. + Previous experience of undertaking structural inspections and preparing detailed engineering reports, site survey and supervision of projects, with some competence in the use of AutoCAD and other engineering software, would be advantageous. + As Structural Engineer, you will be required to travel to site and regularly undertake inspections. Preferred Qualifications Desirable Skills & Experience + A Bachelor's degree in Civil and/or Structural engineering. + Holding Chartered status.
