Janssen Research & Development is recruiting a Senior Statistician for the Translational Medicine and Early Development Statistics (TMEDS) group to be located at High Wycombe, UK. The scope of the TMEDS group focuses on research conducted during the discovery, development and early clinical phase of drug development, before the compound advances to larger confirmatory clinical trials. Job Description: Within the department, we are currently seeking for an enthusiastic biostatistician (m/f) with a broad knowledge of statistical modelling to strengthen our statistical team in the UK supporting drug discovery in Infectious Diseases and Vaccines (IDV). The successful candidate will support translational studies and invitro and invivo experiments supporting the IDV portfolio. You will contribute to making informed decisions in drug discovery through your analytical attitude, analysis skills, experimental design suggestions and through appropriate reporting and communication of data evidence for research and development needs at Janssen. The candidate will collaborate within cross-functional teams and with external contractors. Participation in scientific activities in the local professional community can be expected. Requirements: The Statistician's primary responsibilities include collaborating with researchers on experimental design, data analysis, and the interpretation and clear communication of results. A good knowledge of biostatistics is essential to this role, as is the use of statistics in decision-making and the eagerness to learn the underlying science and business. You serve as initial consultation contact for new projects in the drug discovery portfolio, maintains and grows customer base and builds loyal relationships with customers. Playing a crucial role in bridging the gap from preclinical experiments to first-in-human trials and the use of preclinical information to establish a safe first dose in humans Assuming an independent, professional responsibility for all phases of a project request from beginning through completion with minimal supervision needed. The position would also include service as a statistics' representative for crossfunctional teams Qualifications Do you have the following, skills, experience and qualifications? PhD in Statistics or related field with relevant experience, or Master's with commensurate years of relevant experience. Full proficiency in SAS or R programming Proven written and oral communication skills Proven interpersonal skills to build relationships, act as change agent, and adapt to rapidly changing organizational & business issues. Ability to work independently within a team environment Passionate about project goals (achievements and deliverables) Knowledge of experimental design, (non)-linear mixed models, multivariate analyses, Bayesian statistics, predictive modelling and expertise in modern visualization methods. Eagerness to continuously learn about the relevant underlying science and to expand statistical and computing expertise. Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment as well as strong leadership skills. The position would involve ~10% UK-EU travelling.
