Position: Account Executive - Open Access Contract: 12 months FTC Salary: Up to 35,000 per annum Start date: ASAP An exciting opportunity has opened up in the open access commercial team, which sets and manages the commercial strategy and has revenue responsibility for BMJ's open access institutional products. We are seeking an Account Executive - Open Access who will play a key role in enabling BMJ to manage and deliver open access agreements with our key customers in Europe and beyond. A core part of the role will be to assist the Business Manager, Open Access and Institutional Open Access Sales Manager in preparing the details of new proposed transitional agreements (TA) throughout the proposal and contract negotiations. As well as supporting the team with TAs, they will assist with key account management for open access including understanding and meeting various elements of data and reporting requirements for customers / funders and senior level stakeholders across multiple countries in relation to open access (particularly TAs). The role holder will be responsible for monitoring related articles, transactions and workflows to ensure performance and compliance. This will include delivering a high level of service to our institutions and open access account holders and working collaboratively with other departments to refine and improve our existing customer reporting and processes. + Support the Business Manager, Open Access in preparing the details for TAs including ensuring customer requirements are at the heart of operational delivery + Co-ordinating and administering the set up and customisation of new agreements + Supporting the account management of open access agreements including managing institutional account queries + Producing and managing accurate and effective dashboards for open access agreements + Regularly reporting, analysing and presenting product data to internal and external stakeholders, particularly for transitional agreements + Working closely with the financial and operational teams to manage the related articles and transactions for agreements + Monitoring institutional and consortia publication outputs and data intelligence in order to provide actionable insight to help the team tailor sales opportunities, marketing and communications campaigns + Running customer engagement and promotional activities in collaboration with the marketing department and institutional members + Be the bridge of communication for post-sales activities between sales and operations + Working in close liaison with the Data, Publishing, Marketing, and Operational teams as appropriate + Identifying sales opportunities and potential new markets for open access + Supporting the open access commercial team with meeting longer term strategic goals + Educated to degree level + Experience in creating and maintaining customer reports + Strong data interpretation and reporting skills + Knowledge and experience of working with salesforce.com + Experience of working with academic journals + Proven understanding of the open access market, key trends and developments + Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and strong numeracy skills + Ability to manage multiple projects with a very high level of attention to detail + Strong time management and organisation skills + High level of initiative and motivation - a self starter + Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Tashan Chong-Kan on 0203 6555508 or email tchongkan@bmj.com Why should you apply?
