If you have any enquiries please contact: gds-interim-recruitment@digital.cabinet-office.gov.uk Overview As a Senior Technology Advisor within the Government Legacy IT Workstream you'll work in close collaboration with the existing Senior Technology Advisors (STA) and Consulting Technical Architects (CTA) in the SAT. The combined 'team' will ensure that all future technology spend goes through the GDS pipeline controls which will include the setting up of pipeline assurance and its associated governance. Deliverables * review current HMG controls and identify gaps to be addressed through the work package * enhancements to existing controls and introduction of new controls to incorporate Legacy decommissioning and Continuous Improvement/Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) * standards and guidance incorporating the new controls and expectations incorporating 'secure-by-design' principles and cohesion with NCSC/GSG guidelines * legacy 'line' within controls/assurance pipeline detailing all forward look spend assessed against legacy 'awareness' and 'readiness' * full adoption of the pipeline assurance process from departments * the spend controls/pipeline assurance model is in place already to ensure that activity across departments is confidently scrutinised for VfM demonstration as well as correct 'fit * work directly with department teams (expected to be within assurance functions) and in collaboration with an interim in-department Senior Technology Advisor (STA) as well as the current GDS departmental STA and Consulting Technical Architect * build relationships with key stakeholders in Other Government Departments, influencing and supporting decision-makers and feeding into the wider legacy IT and pipeline assurance workstreams * present and explain the government standards assurance process, Service Standard and agile ways of working to departmental stakeholders and to international delegations and support service teams in delivering to standards * identify suitable departments to partner with, understanding the impact of proposed product changes on their business * work with staff at all levels of an organisation to educate them with a compelling view about the current work, enabling them to gain confidence in it and their relation to it * be able to identify what good looks like and the methodologies to enable the assessment of the status of ongoing work * undertake workshops and 1:1 meetings with a wide range of stakeholders and build an evidence-based cohesive narrative for what next steps should be taken next * work with staff in all levels of partner organisations to enable them to deliver the agreed changes to their ways of working * contribute to the successful running and improvement of GDS. Be an ambassador for GDS in all external engagements and interactions Skills required * experience of advising on enterprise level technology requirements * experience of transforming technology as set out in the GDS Service Design Manual * experience with agile development methodologies & processes (SCRUM, Kanban etc) * experience of working alongside a user centered design function * experience in large-scale transactional environments * a willingness to travel (UK, generally during normal working hours) to meet and engage with government departments We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
