Job Title: Trust Doctor in Medicine ST3+ Job Reference: 372-MED-MD44 Salary: 49,036 per annum Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is nestled in the heart of the stunning Pennine hills; the area which inspired the works of the Bronte sisters. We're conveniently situated between the vibrant cities of Leeds and Manchester surrounded by a rich and varied heritage with breath taking scenery, plenty of places to see and things to do. The trust has developed proposals for the next and very exciting phase in the Trust's history. If approved they would create- over the next five years- more centralised care at our Trust in two specialist centres. An emergency care centre with a dedicated paediatric unit and a specialist centre for planned care in a brand new hospital alongside our new Acre Mills Outpatient centre, across from the existing Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. There are opportunities to work in a number of medical specialities such as respiratory, cardiology, gastroenterology, elderly care, stroke medicine and acute medicine. Details of each post will be available at interview and we will do our best to accommodate individual choices. For staff contracted for more than 6 months we routinely rotate into other specialities to ensure a broad exposure to the medical specialities. There are weekly Medical Grand round teaching including journal club and Core medical teaching sessions in the Education Centre that covers a wide range of topics. There is separate training for non-technical skills such as handover and communication skills. CHFT has a well-equipped Clinical Skills Training Room with simulation mannequins for procedures such as chest drain insertion and central venous cannulation. The Trust would encourage and support a doctor with obtaining their membership and any post holder preparing for MRCP and PACES will be supported. In addition we will support doctors with the sign off of competencies to allow individuals to apply for higher training. The Trust is a Centre for PACES training as part of Yorkshire Deanery Programme. There is a regular junior doctor forum in medicine at both sites that provides platform for trainees to discuss any training issues and develop solutions in real time in liaison with senior management. This provides opportunity to enhance leadership and management skills. Applicants must be on the General Medical Council Register or be eligible for registration.
