VMware provides you just such an opportunity. We are the Open Source Community Strategy team in the Open Source Program Office (OSPO) at VMware. We are building a new team providing resources that foster community development and connect our engagement in open source communities with our strategies so that we are all collaborating to achieve the same goals. We are looking for a senior program manager, that will collaborate with the Director of Open Source Community Strategy to create and maintain the tools, documentation and processes that help us align our open source upstream contributions with VMware strategies across our various business units. You'll work with product leadership, engineers, and other program managers to define and implement software and processes for the Open Source Program Office (OSPO) to help our employees contribute to upstream open source projects while being good corporate citizens. You will come up with a plan for how to align our contributions with our strategies, run a pilot to gather feedback, share implementation of this plan, communicate with stakeholders, and continue to iterate on improvements to this program over time. Additionally, you'll provide day-to-day coordination on other projects and tasks as needed to drive process and communication improvements across multiple teams and functions. **What we are looking for:** + Ability to be self-driven, and a fast and consistent learner are valued attributes for this position. + Pragmatic, iterative, and customer-driven. You're organized, self-starting, and resourceful. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. + You know when to ask for support and are comfortable giving and receiving feedback to continually improve as a team. + Comfortable collaborating across time zones and cultures. + Enjoy problem solving, automating processes, and improving the customer experience + Understanding of why open source exists, why it works, and the opportunities and challenges it poses to organizations. **Highly Desired:** + Experience participating in and contributing to open source projects. + Previous software development experience. + Experience with software development tools such as source code revision control (Git / GitHub) and ticketing systems (Jira).
