For more information visit www.costain.com The M1 J13-16 SM ALR delivery team is expanding to accommodate additional workload generated by an early extension of the scheme from junction 15 to junction 16 (a further 20km of open work site). We are looking for highly motivated Section Engineers with an ambition to work on a challenging infrastructure scheme. The Smart Motorway Programme will be a mainstay of Costain Highways Sector workload for the next 10 years following the successful award of the Smart Motorway Alliance in April. This is a great opportunity to gain experience of the exciting and dynamic projects the Alliance has to offer. The role on the M1 J13-16 SM ALR scheme will include a variety of different disciplines including earthworks, piling, FRC, drainage, pavements, structural steelwork and vehicle restraint systems. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Managing the site engineering team and delegating tasks * Mentoring and enhancing the skills of junior engineers * Accountable for delivering the immediate construction programme of the section * Daily co-ordination of sub-contractors * Ensuring all works comply with highways and project specification and drawings * Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with approved ITP * Developing and reviewing safe systems of work (RAMS, permits, etc) * Ensuring all activities on site are recorded through daily diaries and photographs * Identifying and communicating technical issues on site * Attend daily co-ordination and weekly planning meetings * Operate surveying equipment and train junior engineers You'll be a welcomed member of the wider team, with opportunities to take on additional responsibility, join one of our networks for women, military or LGBT+ staff, and participate in cultural and social events with the local community (e.g. as a STEM ambassador).
