Competitive salary and benefits | Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK As an Economist or Economic Analyst, you will be responsible for designing and delivering insights for Emsi's customers across education, economic development and corporate sectors, and contributing to innovations in our growing range of labour market analytics. You will be passionate about finding answers to questions about the changing economy and the future of education and work and have advanced quantitative skills. Working with customers and colleagues you will excel at understanding problems, designing solutions and producing compelling presentations and reports. The role reports to the Head of Innovation and is based from our UK office in Basingstoke, although many of our team are home-based. The successful candidate will cover the following duties: Research consultancy: * Design and produce quantitative labour market analysis. * Turn analysis into compelling stories, told through reports and presentations. * Collaborate and communicate with customers, managing projects from scoping through to delivery. * Design and deliver internal research projects to develop data and apply it to new problems. Marketing and sales: * Work closely with colleagues to manage relationships, developing sales proposals and thought-leadership content. Teamwork and the Emsi way: * Be passionate about labour market data. Take an active interest in the application of labour market data to solve customer problems; always on the lookout for new opportunities. * Be a team player. Work flexibly with Innovation colleagues, with sales and marketing colleagues in the wider Emsi UK team to drive success for Emsi and our clients. * Be obsessed with quality and innovation. Always be looking for ways to improve and add value to the work that we do, and creating methods which make the complex simple. Person Specification * Advanced quantitative skills - experience of scripted analysis would be especially desirable; we use R and RMarkdown to produce our research outputs. * Bachelors degree in a field with a quantitative focus, Masters degree desirable. * At least 2 years' relevant experience in a consulting, think-tank or strategy and policy role. * Knowledge of UK official economic statistics. * Ability to meet milestones while juggling multiple responsibilities and work with minimal supervision.
