* Immigration Paralegal * Manchester * Competitive Salary The role-holder will be required to provide efficient and effective administrative assistance to the Immigration Solicitor ensuring clients receive timely, efficient and effective legal services. Job Role The Trainee Caseworker must effectively support the Immigration team with core administrative duties, ensuring all calls are answered in a timely manner and in a polite manner, direct calls and sign-post effectively and undertake all general administration duties to best support the team. They must be able to work in a fast paced and ever changing environment where they will have to adapt and prioritise accordingly. Duties * Deal with client calls in a professional, polite and effective manner * Actively manage and develop client relationships including day to day contact with key clients * To conduct administrative support in the following areas of immigration law; Refugee & Human Rights Law, European Law, Work & Study in the UK, Family Visits and Settlement, Deportation Appeals, Naturalisation, Public Law, Sponsor Licensing for Businesses and Educational Institutions * Assisting fee earners in the department in effective case management, including Preparing and submission of applications to the Home Office and British High Commission (but not exclusively) drafting pleadings, statements, instructions to counsel, letters of instruction, court applications and accompanying documents and correspondence; preparing bundles; and bills; progressing to-do/diary lists and requesting and filing relevant documents. * Responding to telephone enquiries and general queries from clients, other professionals/experts, other solicitors and colleagues, where appropriate within 24 hours. * Responding to all new enquiries within 24 hours and ensuring that the spreadsheet as to all new enquiries is up to date. * Attending conferences with Counsel and other hearings where appropriate. * Carrying out administrative duties as appropriate. In particular, that all file procedures are followed. To include but not limited to, ensuring the file checklist is completed at the beginning of each file once opened and maintain file information in both hard copy and electronic file. In particular, compliance with client care and complaints procedures in order to minimize the risk of negligence and comply with Law Society rules. * Ensure that client records are maintained in line with UKBA requirements * Ensure excellent client care in order to maximize new client leads becoming consultations. * Develop knowledge in line with relevant legislation * Maintaining orderly and up-to-date files including electronic files and complying with the company's policies on file management and accurately record deadlines in the relevant diary management systems. * To support the team in networking and participation in the company's marketing activities. * Assist in the recording of financial payments received * Ensuring compliance with company's policies, Solicitors Accounts Rules, Code of Conduct and the Money Laundering Regulations. * Meet set KPI's in line with L1 requirements LEVEL TWO * To provide clients with advice with supervision in defined areas * Level 2 Accreditation to provide clients with initial advice on immigration and asylum law * Assisting Fee Earner in actively progressing the clients matter. * Undertake more cross-referring work and clients within the company. * Any other suitable matters required by the Directors or Senior Solicitor. Job knowledge, Skills & Experience Level ONE Essential: * Math's and English GCSE A to C * 6 months experience in working in a legal environment OR Law degree with an Immigration module undertaken * Ability to think critically and analyze information * Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. * Demonstrated ability to manage files and records * Preferably completed their LPC Level TWO Essential: * 12 months experience in an Immigration Law environment * Able to use own initiative
