As a result, millions go untreated every year, causing unnecessary suffering, permanent debilitation, or death. The causes are a shortage of surgeons, varying quality of care, rising costs of training surgeons, lack of funding, and lack of accessibility to quality surgery. Digital Surgery has created a digital data-driven ecosystem that uses the latest cutting-edge technologies like AI, augmented reality and computer vision to modernize surgical training, orchestrate surgical teams in the OR, and deliver safer surgery around the world. Digital Surgery is seeking an individual from a life sciences and/or writing and editing background to take on the role of Medical Copy Editor to start August 1, 2020. As Medical Copy Editor, you will be responsible for reviewing and ensuring the quality of our medical content. You must have a keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to editing. In the role of Medical Copy Editor, you will be a member of our Medical Education team, a branch of the wider Medical Affairs Department. You will report directly to our Staff Technical Writer. Here's what you'll do (not all of it, just the important stuff): * Review and edit the written content of Digital Surgerys products, including mobile simulations, AR/VR simulations, and annotated videos. * Ensure our medical content is of an appropriate tone and style for consumption by healthcare professionals. * Promote adherence to our company voice and style through communicating editorial feedback to colleagues. * Report commonly observed editorial themes to the Staff Technical Writer, and suggest updates to our in-house style guide. * Additional writing or editing tasks on an ad hoc basis. Requirements * Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. * Background or interest in life sciences, healthcare, surgery or anatomy. * Experience in a writing or editing role. * Adaptable writing and editing style, able to switch between technical, academic or plain English writing to suit document-specific needs. * Teamwork and communication skills. * Computer literacy in a range of productivity and editorial software.
