Rapyd ,
London, Greater London

Overview

Job Description

Description Rapyd is the mobile-first "network of networks" that makes the world's favorite ways to pay and be paid instantly available through a single API and SDK, so that just as easily as developers could already take cards, they can now accept cash from a merchant in Ghana, a bank transfer from a shopper in the Philippines, or an ATM transfer from a homesick worker looking to send joy back to their family. Through our partner API we are bringing together local financial specialists from every corner of the world to make the 100s of ways people pay available around the world, so that ecommerce merchants, gig platforms, challenger wallets, remittance platforms, online lenders, and even traditional banks can break free of their old infrastructure and limitations and create new mobile-friendly solutions to make payments faster and smarter. Founded in 2015, Rapyd is already global, with offices in London, Singapore, Silicon Valley, and Tel Aviv. Rapyd is venture backed and has raised multiple rounds, and currently has funding for a good runway and global expansion. Rapyd is looking for a dynamic, high impact Risk & Compliance Officer (RCO) to help us manage our partner and merchant pipeline to ensure we are building a high-trust network of networks and using technology, heuristics, and strong processes to create something from the ground up that helps consumers, businesses, and ecosystem partners across the region thrive. As an early leader of the EMEA team, you will be asked to wear many hats, including helping operationalize our merchant onboarding, compliance and AML processes, ongoing monitoring, and ongoing relationship and account management with our partners and merchants. This isn't a turnkey role, you will get to write the book on how we build these processes, and help define the tools and techniques we use to do it the right way. You will be building trust, finding thoughtful solutions, and owning the output, while also being the "ears on the ground" to ensure management, product and engineering teams are getting the right information and prioritizing the right things. You will be: * The designated MLRO for the UK business registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) * Developing merchant onboarding and screening processes and tools * Identifying and documenting key obligations and controls in place across the region * Assisting with policy writing and documentation * Reviewing merchant and partner risks and verifying compliance status * Working with our Sales and Compliance teams to screen and onboard the right partners * Developing monitoring processes and defining tools to build a sustainable ongoing system * Cultivating relationships with financial and channel partners * Supporting regulatory relationships with processes, data and insights * Informing the product roadmap based on our risk management needs * Working with key platform partners to integrate new e-KYC, detection, and other technologies to provide smarter solutions Requirements * At least 6 years in a risk or compliance role * At least 5 years in the payments or high-tech industries * Must be able to talk knowledgeably with eCommerce players, banks, lenders, FinTech's, and clients who live and breathe payments every day * Must have proven experience managing merchant risks or compliance * Must have built or significantly enhanced processes * Must be both a curious student and a patient teacher * Must have experience in a MLRO role previously * Must have experience in a fast growing small organization * Must have great writing and verbal communication skills * Good knowledge of international and online payments * Good knowledge of risk management * Excellent program and project management skills * Demonstrated experience in a high-pressure or startup environment * CAMS certified a plus
