Job Description

A fantastic permanent opportunity has arisen for a Junior Software Developer to join a public sector organisation based in Exeter. This is to work on a pinnacle project for the organisation, which the whole team are really excited about. The projects are largely greenfield and are already under way, utilising the latest tech to have a significant positive impact on public wellbeing and safety. Duties will include building in house applications for a number of business areas and my client will be looking for Developers who have great personable skills and have a strong team ethic. Existing experience in a full SDLC role will be essential, alongside the ability to work fluidly within a highly agile team. Alongside projects which have a genuinely positive societal impact, you will also be working within a team which genuinely supports each and every member, with very little by way of structural hierarchy. This means that every voice is heard and there are plenty of opportunities to develop skills and make the most of learning opportunities at every level. This is a junior role requiring a minimum of 6 months' in house experience as a software developer. Full training support and development is provided by the very talented leader of this team, with clear objectives and pathways to follow for career progression. Experience / Exposure required * Java (version 9 is currently in use, with a transition over to Version 11 currently in play. Experience within either version is welcomed) * Front end development within JavaScript * RESTful web services * Source Control * Agile Environment * Dependency Injection * SQL Server * React * Spring MVC, Boot Applications are welcome from individuals with exposure to other languages who are happy to cross train into Java. PHP and C# developers encouraged to apply!
