We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Safeguarding Children Lead to join the Clinical team based in Welwyn Garden City. HUC are committed to promoting the welfare of adults, children and young people and to protect them from the risks of harm and abuse. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse with safeguarding children and paediatric experience. This role offers 22.5 hours per week, based at our Headquarters in Hertfordshire. The position will include regular travel across all our locations to represent the organisation at a variety of strategic Safeguarding meetings. Who are we? HUC provides accessible and high quality Integrated Urgent Care services to nearly 3 million patients across a range of counties, including Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Bedfordshire and West Essex. When patients are ill and need the right medical attention, HUC provides the NHS111 and Out of Hours GP service. The Role: The Safeguarding Children Lead is responsible for providing organisational safeguarding children leadership. Working closely with the Medical Director and Clinical Governance team including the Head of Nursing, you will support and ensure that services are delivered safely and effectively, are of high quality and meet all regulatory and professional standards. The role will include championing the needs of vulnerable children. As part of the senior clinical team, you will be part of the clinical on call rota and provide clinical advice and support to all areas including NHS111 and Out of Hours, as and when this is required. We are looking for a registered Adult or Children's nurse with safeguarding, paediatric experience and proven management skills as well as: * Thorough understanding of legislation and statutory guidance in relation to safeguarding children * Current NMC registration * Report and policy writing skills * The ability to make decisions autonomously and to think strategically * Excellent team and communication skills * Training delivery experience * A valid driving licence We can offer you: * £38,000 - £42,000 per annum/pro rata subject to experience * Generous NHS pension * NHS discounts through Blue Light Card * Access to the 'Perkbox' staff benefit scheme * Opportunity to make a difference * Senior and peer clinical support * Personal development and training * Educational events * Performance feedback to support appraisal and revalidation Please apply early as this vacancy may close before the given closing date.
