Job Summary Our teams in Saffron Walden and Harlow are looking to recruit for 3 Scientists/Senior Scientists on initial 12 month contracts with potential to go permanent following this period. These opportunities will place you as part of a cross-functional team working at the forefront of drug discovery, interacting with other groups within the organisation including computational chemistry, chemistry, compound management and in vitro and in vivo DMPK. You will also be given the chance to develop your own skills via interaction with scientists from diverse cultural and scientific backgrounds. You will be self-motivated and enthusiastic about working in the lab and will have experience with plate-based screening and assay development, ideally gained within industry or an academic screening environment. The main responsibility in the roles will be to work on a range of biochemical and cellular assay formats, solving challenging problems, analysing and reporting data to advance client drug discovery projects. You'll be working in a cross-functional working environment and will be collaborating with teams in Chemistry and DMPK in order to drive projects forward. Our ideal candidate will have a degree or PhD level qualification, between 1 and 3 years' relevant experience, and a passion for applying scientific expertise to drug discovery collaborations. Adept at problem solving and in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will need to possess the flexibility required to work in a goal-oriented environment, as well as: * Experience in developing, optimising and executing in vitro biological assays (biochemical, cell based) for HTS and small molecule drug discovery projects.* The ability to QC equipment and data and use this experience to troubleshoot assays* Experience at high throughput screening or plate-based SAR generation assays* A pro-active and positive problem solving mindset* The ability to suggest new ideas or initiatives that impact upon project progress* An awareness of the relevant scientific literature and contemporary laboratory practices* An ability to work to tight deadlines* Strong organizational skills* A desire to work in cross-functional teams where your data will have a direct impact on project goals* A willingness to interact with other members of the department, sharing assay development and screening best practises* Presenting your own work confidently to both internal project teams and in client meetings* An ability to work in a safe manner at all times ensuring procedures/SOPs are adhered to NB In order to fulfil our requirements under our COVID-19 working policy, the successful candidates may be asked to work outside of the standard working pattern of Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5.30 pm.
