Job Description

The EU AMXL team is looking for an Manager for Transportation Planning to lead the end to end network topology, trans volume and capacity planning and network change management for EU. The role requires heavy index on planning, strategy, analytics, bias for action, and ownership. Amazon Extra Large (AMXL), formerly known as Special Handling, obsesses over customers by offering a white glove service where we deliver TVs and other large items like furniture in customers' homes. Not only do we deliver large parcels, we unpack, assemble, install and sometimes even do tests, hauling away old items as needed. As we head into Peak, we continue to build our special handling fulfillment, delivery and services network and will add more fulfillment centers and delivery stations across EU. We are currently in the process of building out a network that is poised for big growth in the coming years. As a Mgr, Transportation Planning, you lead a team and will own the complete end to end strategy, planning and execution of the transportation network in EU. You will help identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve systems, processes, and tools. You will be responsible for strategic planning, analytics, modeling complicated problems through the use of statistical, data mining and visualization techniques, and for working with a wide range of stakeholders across Amazon to implement the answers you identify. Success in Network Planning requires not only strong analytical skills but also excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Planning is uniquely concerned with connecting widely varying teams to a single vision and timeline, which requires very strong stakeholder management capabilities. This role requires working with cross-functional business, finance and operations teams across the company. This position involves regular communication with both field operations and senior management on status, risks/opportunities and daily change control management. Cross-team coordination, project management and executive interaction skills are essential. From leadership perspective, you are required to set vision and establish standard working process for the team. It's also expected to provide coaching and training to ensure the team can thrive in Amazon's culture and grow with the company. You will own writing strategic document, presenting plans to leadership team, and leading execution plan upon approval. The position is based in Amazon European headquarter in Luxembourg, a city widely known for its beautiful setting, livability, and highly international population, with foreign nationals making up over half of the population. We can also be flexible with location with alternative options being London and Munich. Responsibilities in the Mgr. Transportation Planning include: Lead a team of at-least 3 people Developing the bi-annual and long term plan for AMXL and driving strategic alignment across multiple stakeholders within Amazon Develop the network topology for AMXL accounting for capacity, costs, speed and CX Build daily, weekly and monthly forecasts on all volume flows in our complex network with warehouses, multiple carriers, and delivery nodes. Lead the weekly S&OP meeting with operations, network change management approval and submit for execution. Plan capacity required in all our transportation facilities in terms of delivery vehicles, sort associates and line-haul flows. Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy of our forecasts, which involves owning projects from beginning to end: producing the analysis to understand the problem; convening a cross-functional team to resolve it; and monitoring the improvements you produce Work to set up processes that allow an orderly, high quality planning process across the year, which is especially important in a highly seasonal business Collaborate with teams with widely differing incentives to help them make the right trade-offs in terms of how the prepare for, and respond to, uncertainty, providing analysis that is sophisticated but easy to understand Provide reports and analyses through tools, portals and databases (Redshift, SQL, Excel, Tableau, and/or other data management systems) to allow full visibility of both the plan and our execution against it
