Planner/Buyer About Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Pencoed Ortho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 500 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to a global customer base. Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories. In addition to the continued support our growing scientific community provide to our existing products, we are also harnessing our Research & Development capabilities for the creation of novel new content to expand our immunoassay menu. We are proud to be a global hub for critical manufacturing lines, and we have recently expanded our capabilities with three new state-of-the-art manufacturing lines to produce a comprehensive suite of immunohematology products for blood typing and cross-matching of blood donor units. On site we have a range of functions operating globally & locally. All our employees are working towards one common goal, to help save and improve lives through diagnostics. Your new role We are looking to recruit a Planner/Buyer, to be based at our Pencoed facility. In this role you will be responsible for managing the timely procurement of materials to support the manufacturing plan. You will partner closely with our Buyers, Project Manager(s), Test Team & Production Planner(s) to deliver on agreed objectives. What you'll be doing: * Maintain a 'plan for every part' Inventory Profile * Accurate planning and delivery of raw materials to support MPS & customer needs * On time order placement * Plan and execute appropriate replenishment methods for inventory minimization * Ensure timely disposition of discrepant material * Proactively working with Suppliers and Procurement teams to mitigate any potential material shortage * Analysing inventory levels, ensuring stock accuracy within the supply chain. * Measure, monitor and report supply performance using visual management tools * Support Planning in the development and implementation of manufacturing plans * Effectively manage the phase in and out of new and existing products * Undertake inventory cost modeling for current and future business * Engage in cost/storage capacity modeling for future state requirements * Support the principle of lean manufacturing and adoption of a 5S culture * Ensure adherence to HSE and Quality Policy * Ensure procedural documentation is maintained to reflect changing practice What you'll need to succeed: * Educated to Degree Level in Business Management or Biological Science; or equivalent, relevant, work experience ideally from within a Medical Device environment. * Professional Supply Chain Qualification (Planning) or equivalent demonstratable work experience. * Minimum of 3 years' experience in a progressive Vendor Scheduling / Planning role * Inventory Cost Modeling * Sound understanding of MRP/ERP/SAP systems * Raw Material Schedule Management * Inventory Reduction Programmers * Demonstrable use of inventory replenishment systems (KANBAN, VMI, Consignment Stock) * Strong communication skills.
