Job Description

Hours: 37.5 hours per week Contract: Fixed term up to 12 months. Secondment will be considered. York Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a dynamic individual with an interest in GI cancers who is looking to develop their expertise and knowledge in the GI cancer field. You would need to have knowledge and experience post qualification in relevant areas such as Upper GI &/or Colorectal and or cancer. This newly established post will join an existing specialist nursing team and will support future nursing improvement and development including Personalised Care and Support to benefit the person diagnosed with a GI cancer within the York Trust. As a post holder you will be supported through access to training and development opportunities both within the Trust and externally to progress your career and influence GI Cancer Nursing for current and future patients and their families locally, regionally and nationally. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic individual who has the ability to engage with clinical teams within the organization and who will work within the team supporting patients and their families through the often complex cancer pathway. The successful candidate will manage a small case load and, working alongside the existing team, develop and support nursing activity across the organisation. This post is full time and will be primarily based in York but cross site working will be required to the Trust's other hospitals. This vacancy will be considered for a secondment opportunity.
