Job Description
Role The Area Improvement Manager initiates and implements continuous improvement (projects) throughout their SCS HS2 Area Team considering the supply chain and looking at safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and efficiency to deliver benefits across the scope of the project. The main objective is to support and inspire others to participate in the ongoing improvement process - to streamline workflows/procedures, improve productivity and identify (and reduce) issues at an early stage (identify and mitigate delivery risks) at site level within your designated Area. The role is site based at your Area however regular travel is required to and between Project Areas. Key Responsibilities * Act as sole point of contact for improvement work in your Area Project Team. * Support Area Senior Leadership to implement problem solving improvement (Lean) projects. * Facilitate and lead on collaborative planning and visual management across the Area teams, using sessions to drive problem solving and improvement projects. * Own Area Project Improvement Team (PIT) tracker to record and report on project efficiencies and benefits generated through improvement work, measure and report on KPIs, using data to understand trends and generate improvement activities based on analysis. * Ensure your Project Area is aligned to Project Improvement Team vision and standard ways of working. * When required deploy Lean training (e.g. awareness training) across the project at all levels both to encourage people to see/share ideas and to enable people to use LEAN tools (i.e. problem solving, Visual Management) in construction processes. * Workshop design, coordination and facilitation. * Lead the Area Performance Improvement Team (Area PIT) - a group of Lean/innovation champions from across the Area team. * Recognise and encourage people who want to make a difference - and coordinate regular networking opportunities (e.g. Area PIT meetings). * Collect and share ideas, examples of good / best practice, lessons learnt and knowledge summaries across SCS, parent companies, HS2. * Connect idea owners to subject matter experts breaking silos. * Update client's documents (if and when required). * Represent SCS at HS2 and industry LEAN forums, conferences, etc. * Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.
