Goodfish has an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Quality Technician. This position would be ideally suited to a recent graduate who is interested in a practical, hands on role within a busy manufacturing environment. This is a unique development opportunity where we will invest in your training in areas such as; learning to programme a CMM (Co-ordinate Measuring Machine) and learning how to apply the five Automotive Quality Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA and SPC). You will be encouraged to work towards attaining professional memberships (IMechE,CQI-Chartered Quality Institute) while carrying out this key role in ensuring that conforming product is delivered to our customers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Draw up initial work instructions and adjust/improve as necessary * Monitor and ensure correct use of Work Instructions on the shop-floor * Ensure first-off parts are to drawing & specification; record and pass off as appropriate * Gather information required for and contribute to 8D completion. * Work with our Engineers to suggest and implement appropriate counter-measures (e.g.Poke Yoke) to help reduce PPM defect rate * Gather information to assist the PPAP process (incl APQPs, PFMEAs) including the measuring of parts using a variety of measuring equipment e.g.micrometer, vernier or CMM * Patrol shop floor to seek assurance that products being manufactured and packed conform with customers' requirements and implement SPC to ensure standards are measured * Ensure scrap data is correctly recorded and presented to Manager for PPM count * Suggest, and implement as directed, continuous improvement ideas, from a quality standard perspective * Suggest, and implement as directed, cost saving & scrap reduction ideas * Maintain a clean and safe working environment, in line with 5S protocols PERSON SPECIFICATION Put quite simply, want to hear from the most enthusiastic, interesting engineering or product development students with a minimum 2i) at BSc, BEng or equivalent level in a relevant engineering subject. The ideal candidate will have; * At least 1 years work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment * Some knowledge of the plastic injection moulding process * An eye for detail and a problem solving mindset * Ability to communicate well with at all levels HOURS This is a day role where you will work 40 hours per week Mon-Fri. A flexible approach to working additional hours is required.
