Behaviours: Knowledge of relevant procedures Level of customer Service Team Player Health and safety awareness and knowledge * Communication Job Description Job objectives and responsibilities * The role is to produce accurate tenders by the required deadlines and assist in the smooth running of the Estimating Department. To work within Mitie's documented procedures and proactively contribute to enable the company to achieve it's planned objectives. Main duties Job Specific (Estimating) * Maximise any commercial opportunity that may arise during and after the tender period. * Carefully plan, with the other Estimating staff and the Estimating Manager, the best use of resources available within and outside your department. * Carry out site surveys to scope items of plant and associated equipment required * Maintain the QMS system regarding all aspects of your work. * The production of accurate Mechanical estimates during the tender period and ensure that quotations are correctly qualified. * Technical ability and understanding of building services. * The production of accurate tenders in the relevant time periods. * Supply chain development. * Prepare SQM budget cost plans to clients brief. * Produce sketch designs and size plant for design and build tenders. * Identify value engineering proposals and associated cost savings. Advice & Guidance * Provide advice and guidance to other Contracts staff with regards to current pricing levels. Auditing/Monitoring /Inspection * Self-check/inspect tender processes are being employed at regular intervals to ensure high accuracy levels/correct standards are being met. * Assist/co-operate with company audits covering adherence to company set procedures and policies. Back-Up and Support * Monitor resources and arrange back up in the event of colleague absence or in times of high activity. * Provide on site back-up in event of colleague absences. Documentation * Ensure that all documentation is completed accurately and/or revised to ensure quality levels are maintained to the required standard. * To prepare hand over documentation for the Contracts Department for successful tenders. Meetings * To attend as required: estimating and general staff meetings, internal hand over meetings, external Client tender review meetings. Systems Development * Provide input to support the development of new systems and improve existing systems. Time Management * Plan and prioritise own work schedules to ensure allocated tasks and responsibilities are implemented and actioned within agreed/ required timescales. Training * Recognise own training requirements and bring them to the attention of your line manager. * Attend training courses as agreed. * Support subordinates in their training and provide constructive feedback and advice. Qualifications Person Specification * High numeracy skills * Five years work experience in a similar role/environment * Qualification and experience of estimating in the field of mechanical building services * PC skills at an intermediate level including experience of computerised estimating software systems * Well developed inte
