Job Description

My Clients hava a group of Care Homes in the South West who are passionate about providing the very best care in a Residential Care Home setting. They provide expert residential and dementia care to hundreds of people in care homes across the South West.West. They are now looking for an enthusiastic and self motivated Accountant to join their team based at their Head Office at Plymouth Science Park. The candidate must be CIMA/ACCA qualified / passed finalist, with experience preparing management accounts for review. The role reports to the Company Secretary, and will be supported by one member of staff - the Accounts Assistant, who is the book keeper for the company. Responsibilities * Management of both purchase and sales ledger functions. * Preparation of monthly management accounts to an agreed timescale. To include calculation and journaling of prepayments and accruals, recharges across the homes of some costs etc. * Provision of accounts information as required for the annual external audit, dealing with queries that arise (mainly during the one week on site audit) * Preparation of monthly performance/budget reports for each care home to an agreed timescale and assisting the care home managers with finance queries. * Management of the payroll function (payroll is processed by a payroll bureau) This involves compilation of gross pay figures from spreadsheets/ the clocking in system, and submitting this and other relevant information to the bureau, checking their output reports, and analysing the payroll figures for the accounts. This is on a two weekly basis, and in general we require holiday to be booked around the payroll cycle, however cover can be arranged for a two week holiday where necessary. * Management of the credit control function, analysing balances each month, preparing reports for management and sending chase letters/escalating where necessary in accordance with our procedures * Maintaining various information in connection with the accounts eg the Asset Register * Supporting the bookkeeper as necessary with queries and absence cover * Working in conjunction with the Office Manager to ensure office cover during normal office hours, and providing support as required for holiday cover etc on resident invoicing and other general office activities. * Maintaining and updating the calculation data in spreadsheets used for gross pay calculation, eg updating pay rates as they change. Making staff changes to reflect starters and leavers where necessary, calculate holiday pay for leavers etc * Management of the annual fee review process, involving a mail merge to send letters advising of changes to fees. * Other ad hoc finance/general administration tasks as required. Requirements This is a key role in a small office, with senior management working remotely, a flexible attitude, the ability to self motivate and work well in a team is of paramount importance. Working hours will generally be 9 to 5, Monday to Friday, but some weekend /Bank Holiday working may be required from time to time. The candidate must be CIMA/ACCA qualified / passed finalist, with experience preparing management accounts for review. A thorough knowledge of Sage and Excel is required, plus sufficient expertise in Word to be able to mail merge documents, produce letters etc. The salary range is £28-£30K depending on experience.
