Job Description

The role provides support to the Head of Risk for the soundness of the Risk Management Framework ("RMF") and the analysis, monitoring and reporting processes supporting the framework. The responsibilities extend across all categories and dimensions of risk. The role holder will help establish a clear view of the changing nature of risks MS AUL faces and will work with the CRO, Chief Executive and the Executive team to manage risk profile within the acceptable appetites and tolerances set down by the Board. The role holder requires the individual to work collaboratively with the relevant specialists within the wider risk function, including the management oversight of any junior members of the MS AUL Risk function. The Senior Risk Analyst will also be required to maintain relationships with Underwriting Management, Underwriting Modelling and Service Companies, as well as other key functions including Actuarial and Finance. The role will be expected to maximise the benefits of the risk framework. Risk Management * Support the delivery of the MS AUL Risk Function plan and wider Risk Mandate; * Support the on-going development of the Risk Management Framework to assist MS AUL in managing and mitigating risks effectively whilst ensuring consistency across the MS Amlin Group; * Support the periodic review of the Risk Policies and Standards; * Monitor in conjunction with the MS AUL CRO, MS AUL's risk appetites, tolerances and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) reporting these to the MS AUL Risk & Solvency Committee and Board; * Assist the development of Top Risk Assessment approach; * Schedule and participate in the risk discussion meetings with the business; * Collect, analyse and report on risk and control information to ensure the business is appropriately managing risks, remediation of ineffective controls is being carried out and actions are defined and appropriate; * Lead the annual operational risk scenario analysis exercise for capital setting purposes; * Keeping up to date with emerging risks and industry trends and the potential impact on MS AUL and the wider Lloyd's market; * Managing the workload and performing first review of the output from the MS AUL Risk Analyst; * Provide risk management support and challenge to a portfolio of change programmes; * Conduct Risk 'deep-dive' reviews over a schedule of business areas on a cyclical basis; * Ensure risk events are captured and documented within the risk and control system (Xactium), and where actions are agreed these are recorded and progress is reported against on an on-going basis to management. ORSA * To work with a range of risk, actuarial and finance professionals across MS Amlin to bring together key data, metrics and dashboards to ensure the efficient and timely production of an ORSA report at the MS AUL level; * To review and monitor the effectiveness of the ORSA reporting process and bring forward enhancements to drive improvement in the reporting process; * To provide practical advice and coaching to risk, actuarial and finance professionals on the requirements of the ORSA process to ensure they are able to deliver their elements of the overall process. Validation * Ensure validation activities and results are brought to the attention of the CRO and ongoing liaison with the Validation team where relevant. Management Information & Reporting * Support the CRO in preparation for the Risk & Solvency Committee * To produce consistent and high quality risk management reports for MS AUL, Service Company Boards and underwriting department management to meet a range of reporting and governance requirements; * To produce reports for management on the outcomes and validation status of operational risk modelling. The Operating Environment and Context of the Job MS Amlin is recognised as a leading specialist in general insurance and reinsurance business with a reputation for strong underwriting and capital management in the Lloyd's market. Within the context of the Solvency II risk based regulatory requirements it is vital that MS AUL has market leading risk management governance and practices. The role will be expected to maximise the benefits of the risk framework in a business undergoing significant change in challenging market conditions. Strong analysis, robust challenge and clear reporting mechanisms need to be developed so that risk status is easily identified and acted upon. The job is based in London but regular contact and occasional travel may be required to any major location of the MS Amlin Group. Strong relationships with key risk owners, some of whom are senior group executives, will be necessary.
