We are looking for a talented and passionate Senior Full Stack WordPress Developer to join BrightTALK's Engineering Department, working in our Audience Team based in the UK. Work in a modern toolchain including Docker-based local development, a Git based CI/CD workflow, and a hosting platform. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior developer to shine on a growing, diverse team. Our Ideal Candidate: Is a team player; you'll be working closely with our product managers and designers. The Engineering - Audience team is responsible for creating and maintaining audience and client facing products such as our Talks platform. We're a passionate, hardworking, supportive, and sociable team, working on unique and interesting challenges that keep us continually learning, improving, and innovating. We balance business requirements with a desire for technical excellence to build the best software possible to get the job done. Responsibilities: * Understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements * Develop web applications/pages using current CSS3, PHP and HTML5 standards. * Provide technical and creative advice during product development stages * Identify and troubleshoot WordPress issues quickly * Possess expert knowledge and capabilities of creating WordPress custom themes and plugins * Create websites and web applications for a variety of requirements * Test functionality of websites in various browsers for quality assurance * Must have a go-getter and self-sufficient type of perspective * Take pride in implementing the right solution to the problem, not necessarily the easy solution * Enjoys mentoring and guiding junior developers * Work with offshore or remote developers as required * Is comfortable giving and receiving meaningful code reviews * Ability to communicate and work constructively with team members * Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills * Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities within strict time constraints * Extreme attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills Qualifications / Skills: * Thorough understanding of Wordpress and its core principles * In-depth architectural knowledge of WordPress; know when to use something off-the-shelf, and when to use a custom solution * Has expert knowledge and experience with WordPress (Plugin / Theme Development / API / Configuration / Advanced Custom Fields) * Has strong general development skills * Experience with popular frameworks and languages such as PHP, HTML, CSS & Javascript * Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc * Experience building complex, responsive, high-traffic websites with WordPress and custom PHP * Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications * Be able to code WordPress themes and plugins from scratch * A passion for web design and a drive to stay current with the latest trends and technology * Strong front end skills including solid experience with PHP, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript & jQuery * Understanding of W3C standards and general design principles * Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages * Knowledge of primary SEO elements * Understanding of best practices for user experience Why we like working at BrightTALK: * Friendly, talented, collaborative and entrepreneurial teams * Generous and comprehensive health and dental benefits, including 100% healthcare coverage for employees * Generous holiday policy, flexible schedule and 4 weeks of PTO in the U.S. and 5 weeks of PTO in the U.K. in your first year at BrightTALK * 401k matching program in the U.S. and pension contribution in the U.K. * Offices located in top destination cities * Training allowance and regular innovation days * Team building and paid volunteer time We are dedicated to learning and growing, going after big dreams, taking ownership, remaining open and honest while recognizing we are in it together.
