Job Description
Grade: Band C Salary: 20,619 to 28,023 Closing Date: 16th June 2020 About the role: * Reporting to: Sex Offender Management Sergeant * Specific Role Purpose: Working as part of a team responsible for the management of Registered Sex Offenders, Violent Offenders and other Potentially Dangerous persons Specific Role Responsibilities: Management of "reactively managed" Registered Sex Offenders according to National and Local Policy. Management of Category 2 Level 1 MAPPA nominals alongside NPS. To update, maintain and manage all databases (CORVUS, MAPPING, Electronic File MGT system, PNC, VISOR, CRIMES v5) used within the department by undertaking research, analysis and collation of information from all relevant sources. To prepare and produce statistical data in accordance with government requirements To receive and process registrations and notifications to register, ensuring that all relevant databases, including the Police National Computer (PNC), are updated with relevant information To ensure that the register of violent and sex offenders is checked regularly and amended as appropriate in accordance with data protection and operational requirements To establish and maintain good relations with internal and external partners, as part of the multi-agency public protection arrangements To compile clear and concise information/intelligence reports. To inform, give advice and liaise with management at all levels on areas of interest. To liaise with other Forces regarding cross border offenders Act as single point of contact for agencies providing information for MAPPA. To provide relevant training to Force Contact staff in relation to notification requirements. To undertake PND checks in relation to offenders. To provide legal advice on all aspects of thresholds to registration. To provide advice and guidance in relation to the application of civil and criminal prevention orders. Essential Skills: * Extensive knowledge of guidance on protecting the public: managing Sexual Offenders and Violent offenders * Extensive knowledge of National and Force Reactive Management Policy. * Knowledge on MAPPA Guidance * An understanding of intelligence management * To have undertaken or be willing to undertake the following mandatory training/courses: * VISOR Course * CORVUS Editor * PNC * EFB * ICIS * FLINTS * PINS * PND * IMS * CRIMES v5 * Xhibit - Crown Court system * LIBRA - Magistrates Court system * Effective decision making skills and proven ability to work with minimal supervision * Ability to prioritise and mange a demanding workload * Proven computer literacy, including spread sheets and databases * A good knowledge of IT based systems * Proven report writing and interpersonal skills Desirable Skills: * Working knowledge of force policy, guidance and legislation * Knowledge and/or experience of covert policing methods * Experience in partnership working West Midlands Police are currently undertaking a long term review of staff pay and conditions.
