Consultant in Neurology 10 PAs Ref: 359-MSD0853-C Quality of life but close to London? Come to beautiful and affluent west Kent, with two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and many excellent state grammar schools. Live in a country village or market town and yet be close to London and France. Our expanding service needs a new Consultant Neurologist (10 PAs) at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, with SPA at King's College Hospital. King's neuroscience is ranked 4th in the UK and 15th in the world by US News. This new post, in response to rising demand, will make a total of seven Consultant Neurologists at the Trust. There is no on-call. We encourage candidates to offer a subspecialty clinic. We would be interested in appointing a candidate with an interest in epilepsy, but the job is open to candidates with any subspecialist interest or none. We are happy to be flexible with the job plan to suit the successful candidate, including whether s/he wishes to work predominantly at either Maidstone Hospital or Tunbridge Wells Hospital, and supporting potential negotiation towards increased sessions at King's. We will consider applicants who wish to work less than full time. Maidstone has just been confirmed as the site for one of the three hyperacute stroke units in Kent. This development opening in 2021 will result in expansion of neurological support services and will benefit neurology long term. This post has no commitment to cover stroke. The Trust is closely involved in establishing the new Kent & Medway Medical School , due to open in September 2020, giving opportunities for consultants to develop new projects and roles. We are keen to support individuals wishing to develop specialist interests including research and teaching. We offer first-time consultants additional funding for CPD in management, leadership and clinical skills, and run a successful mentorship scheme.
