GHD's core service sectors include water, energy and resources, environment, property and buildings and transportation and our people share a passion for successful project delivery, innovative consultancy and exceptional results. ________________________________________________________________________ About the Position We now have a number of opportunities at our Guildford, Newcastle, Manchester and Chester offices for high-calibre and motivated senior civil engineers to join our expanding Civil Engineering team to deliver consultancy services and develop engineering solutions for our clients primarily within the water, energy and industrial sectors. You will work closely with our highly skilled multi-disciplinary teams throughout the organisation and our clients to successfully deliver projects and provide high value consultancy services. A knowledge of practices and procedures used within the water, energy and/or industrial sectors would be an advantage. Experience of working with Civil s 3D is essential and an ability to work with REVIT and to BIM protocols would be desirable. Our business operates in both the UK and international marketplaces. From time to time our employees may be required to undertake some short to medium term secondments. _________________________________________________________________________ General Requirements You will be expected to have experience of the civil sector, and will be required to have sound knowledge of the design of earthworks, infrastructure including highways and drainage, retaining structures, ground improvement, foundations and sub-structures. A knowledge of the design of rigid, semi-rigid and flexible pipelines would be an advantage. Application of these competencies in the relevant sector and to the relevant Eurocodes is desirable. Good communication skills are required to achieve the successful delivery of projects in a team environment. _________________________________________________________________________ Key Role and Responsibilities You are likely to work on a portfolio of different projects and will apply your acquired skills and knowledge in a range of environments. Your role and responsibilities will develop as your knowledge of our business increases, but initially you will be required to undertake: * Designs of drainage and below ground pipelines, pavements and hard standings, deep and shallow foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, ground improvement and reinforced earth structures. * Design audits of third party designs. * Concept and feasibility studies, validation reporting. * Site selection studies. * Preparation of specifications and technical information. Experience of the preparation and implementation of Minimum Functional Specifications would be an advantage. * Inspection and assessment of civil and structural engineering structures. * Supervision, knowledge sharing and mentoring of less experienced members of the team * Interpretation and application of relevant client, industry and GHD standards Qualifications, Technical Skills and Experience Required We are looking for the following qualifications, skills, and attributes: * Honours degree in relevant discipline required * Chartered Engineer or near Chartered status (MICE, MIStructE). * A minimum of 8 years' experience. * Knowledge of design in common construction materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry * Knowledge of commonly used design and drawing packages is essential (packages used in GHD: Tekla, Slide, Wallap, ArcGIS, Micro Drainage, Flood Modeller, Civil s 3D, REVIT, AutoCAD) * Knowledge of BIM processes would be an advantage _________________________________________________________________________ About you We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a flexible approach and a willingness to lead and develop in a leading global consultancy.
