GHD's core service sectors include water, energy and resources, environment, property and buildings and transportation and our people share a passion for successful project delivery, innovative consultancy and exceptional results. _________________________________________________________________________ About the Position We now have a number of opportunities at our Guildford, Newcastle, Manchester and Chester offices for high-calibre and motivated senior structural engineers to join our expanding Civil and Structural Engineering team to deliver consultancy services and develop engineering solutions for our clients primarily within the retail, commercial and industrial sectors. You will work closely with our highly skilled multi-disciplinary teams throughout the organisation and our clients to successfully deliver projects and provide high value consultancy services. A knowledge of practices and procedures used within the retail, commercial and/or industrial sectors would be an advantage. Experience of working within a 3D design environment is essential and an ability to work to BIM protocols would be desirable. Our business operates in both the UK and international marketplaces. From time to time our employees may be required to undertake some short to medium term secondments. _________________________________________________________________________ General Requirements You will be expected to have experience of the civil / structures sector, and will be required to have sound knowledge of design in common building materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry. Application of these competencies in the relevant sectors and to the relevant Eurocodes is desirable. Good communication skills are required to achieve the successful delivery of projects in a team environment. _________________________________________________________________________ Key Roles and Responsibilities You are likely to work on a portfolio of different projects and will apply your acquired skills and knowledge in a range of environments. Your role and responsibilities will develop as your knowledge of our business increases, but initially you will be required to provide: * Successful contribution to and delivery of projects in a team environment, including * Personal responsibility and ownership of projects * Technical and commercial delivery * Management, liaison and co-ordination of the Technicians in the team * Production of deliverables to programme timescales * Supervision, knowledge sharing and mentoring of less experienced members of the team * Interpretation and application of relevant client, industry and GHD standards Qualifications, Technical Skills and Experience Required We are looking for the following qualifications, skills, and attributes: * Honours degree in relevant discipline required * Chartered Engineer or near Chartered status (MICE, MIStructE). * A minimum of 8 years' experience. * Knowledge of design in common building materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry * Knowledge of BIM processes would be an advantage _________________________________________________________________________ About you We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a flexible approach and a willingness to lead and develop in a leading global consultancy.
