Purpose and Key Dimensions This is a dynamic and varied role in a supportive and friendly global team. You will be part of the firm's Legal & Risk function which has around 70 team members across our global network. The role focuses primarily on managing the firm's risk with regards to new business acceptance.This includes initiating and analysing conflicts checks for new matters, conducting customer due diligence and risk assessment of clients and matters and advising the firm's lawyers on the legal and reputational risks of new business, ensuring at all times that Linklaters' reputation is preserved, and that professional rules and relevant laws are complied with. This is a challenging role that would suit an ambitious candidate looking for ample learning opportunities. Key responsibilities and challenges * Initiating and analysing conflicts checks for new business in Intapp Conflicts (the firm's conflict checking system) and working alongside Conflicts lawyers to resolve legal and commercial conflicts with relevant stakeholders; * conducting comprehensive client due diligence/anti-money laundering checks on new clients, and proportionate due diligence on counterparties where appropriate; * advising the firm's lawyers on new client acceptance, client identification procedures, anti-money laundering queries, sanctions and reputational risk issues with the support of Financial Crime lawyers; * checking and clearing submitted matter forms and setting up and maintaining appropriate information barriers; * assisting with the supervision and development of Analysts by mentoring, motivating and supporting them and providing honest, constructive and timely feedback; * delivering training to new joiners to the Business Acceptance team; * advising on the firm's client engagement terms, policies, procedures and best practice; and * assisting on various Legal & Risk projects and knowhow. Education / Qualification Graduate or relevant experience Languages English French; German; Mandarin; Cantonese; Spanish or any other language of a country where the firm has presence (desirable) Practical experience Conflicts/new business acceptance experience. Regulatory compliance experience; risk management experience. (desirable) Office skills Able to learn new IT systems quickly; familiar with searching databases and searching conventions.
