Team Profile Morgan Stanley's Natural Resources & Gas Group works with companies, institutions and individuals on mergers and acquisitions, strategy advisory, and executions of public and private capital markets transactions. As an Associate in the European Investment Banking team, you will work with Officers and Senior Bankers on a variety of execution and business development assignments while interacting directly with senior-level financial and strategic decision-makers at some of Europe's largest corporations. Professionals in the European team are mainly located in London, Paris and Frankfurt and work closely with other IBD groups and Global Capital Markets colleagues in Europe. An ideal candidate would have prior basic materials experience and financial industry/investment banking experience. Responsibilities - Managing and assisting in the execution of corporate finance transactions (including IPOs, M&A, strategic advisory). - Performing financial analysis, strategic business analysis and detailed industry research. - Contributing to team discussions and client meetings. - Providing rapid and accurate market judgments to colleagues and clients. - Preparing and delivering client presentations in a clear and compelling manner. - Acting as a mentor and role model to Analysts; promoting team culture. - Working closely with experienced bankers on the team and across other groups. Skills required (essential) - You have a strong academic background having obtained top class degree(s) from a leading university in a mathematical or statistical discipline. - Relevant Investment Banking experience required, in particular demonstrable experience of the NRG sector is essential. - Experience working globally - Experience advising on M&A and post-Merger strategy - Previous research experience required - Fluent in English and one other language - Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential - You are a results-driven team player who performs well under pressure and against tight deadlines - You articulate complex ideas and summarise effectively - You are committed to excellence and maintain high professional and ethical standards. - Strong understanding of professional ethics and regulatory environment - Strong work ethic and demonstrated commitment to excellence - Committed to delivery of highest quality work product; strong attention to detail - Proactive; self-motivated and goal oriented - Strong organizational skills - Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines - Strong team player able to work effectively in a team environment The salary for this role is competitive.
