Job Description

The Team : The Morningstar Market Data Technology Team delivers real-time market data from more than 250 global data sources across a full range of financial asset classes. We supply this data both internally to Morningstar products and externally to clients, supporting the need for fast, reliable market information in a variety of formats and time intervals. As well as real-time delivery, a large amount of tick-by-tick historical data is stored and made available to customers. The Role: As a DevOps Senior Engineer you will own and support our production environment by leading a shift of DevOps engineers through pro-active monitoring, incident management and issue investigation and resolution. You will drive the Change and Release management processes to ensure continuous high availability, implementing CI/CD pipelines to facilitate deployments at scale. The role will involve looking through the lens of continual improvement, identifying areas where automation, tooling or process changes will add value across the Market Data Technology team. Based in our London office, this role will require you to report into the DevOps Team Leader, with you being responsible for either a day shift (7am to 4pm) or evening shift (2pm to 11pm), Monday to Friday. You may be required to be available on-call out of hours for escalation and/or issue resolution. Responsibilities: * Lead a team providing excellent 2nd and 3rd line support of escalated issues from the Technical Operations Team and taking corrective action or escalating further as appropriate. * Drive the Change Management and Release Management processes, escalating issues to the senior management team. * Promote DevOps mindset in the training and mentoring of DevOps Engineers. * Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities and meet concurrent deadlines. * Ownership of multiple projects and be pro-active in managing them end to end. * Contribute to the DevOps roadmap, using continual improvement to deliver best in class solutions * Participant in the out of hours on call shift rota, with other DevOps engineers Requirements * 5+ years' experience in DevOps/Operations/SRE * Proficiency in either of the following: Python (3.x), Groovy * Demonstrable experience of process automation * Experience with Enterprise and open source monitoring tools such as Splunk or Truesight. * Knowledge of network stacks, protocols and technologies. * Proficient with Enterprise CI/CD pipelines. * Experience of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, demanding IT environment with a strong focus on business outcomes. * Comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders. * Experience mentoring and coaching junior DevOps engineers * Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline with strong academic credentials. 301_MstarEurLtd Morningstar Europe Ltd (UK) Legal Entity
