Apprentice Joiner

Our joinery apprenticeship is a full time combined role lasting approximately 2 years. Throughout your level 2 apprenticeship standard, you will work alongside highly qualified tradesmen on busy construction sites whilst attending a day release programme at college. Our apprentices are employed by Persimmon Homes from day one and get to participate in all aspects of joinery work from fitting floor joists, erecting roof structures, as well as the completion of first, second and third fix joinery stages, this will include works such as fitting staircases, internal stud work, hanging doors, fitting of skirting and architrave's. As a Persimmon Apprentice, you will be given a variety of daily duties and will learn from experienced joiners. Your apprenticeship will involve working on a live construction site 4 days per week with 1 day per week college attendance during term time. During college holidays, you will spend 5 days a week on site. Throughout your apprenticeship, Persimmon Homes will provide the time and resources to fully support you in completing your qualification. All of our apprentices will be provided with a tool kit and full PPE when they commence employment and will have an allocated mentor throughout the programme. Pre Requisites: * Ability to achieve functional skills in Maths and English at Level 1 * A keen interest in construction * Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision * A willingness to learn and take instruction * A positive and confident attitude * Ability to use your own initiative * Ability to work as part of a team and to demanding deadlines * A customer focussed outlook * Flexibility with regards to working hours Previous experience/Qualifications: Previous experience or qualifications in construction are not required but would be beneficial. Functional skills level 1 in literacy and numeracy (or equivalent) would also be beneficial but again are not essential.
