Apprentice Bricklayer

Our bricklaying apprenticeship is a full time combined role lasting approximately 30 months. Throughout your level 2 apprenticeship standard, you will work alongside highly qualified tradesmen on busy construction sites whilst attending a day release-training programme at a college local to you. Our apprentices are employed by Persimmon Homes from day one and get to participate in all aspects of masonry work from constructing foundations, cavity walls and a range of other brick structures. As a Persimmon Apprentice, you will be given a variety of daily duties and will learn from experienced Bricklayers. Your apprenticeship will involve working on a live construction site 4 days a weeks and 1 day per week college attendance during term time. During the college holidays, you will spend 5 days a week on site. Throughout your apprenticeship, Persimmon Homes will provide the time and resources to fully support you in competing your qualification. All of our apprentice will be provided with a tool kit and full PPE when they commence employment and will have an allocated mentor throughout the programme. On completion of your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to develop further or simply carry on a long and prosperous career in your Bricklaying with Persimmon Homes. Pre Requisites: * Ability to achieve functional skills in Maths and English at Level 1 * A keen interest in construction * Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision * Ability to motivate self and work with minimum supervision * Willingness to learn and take instruction * A positive and confident attitude * Ability to use your own initiative * Ability to work as part of a team and to demanding deadlines * A customer focused outlook * Flexibility with regards working hours Previous experience/Qualifications: Previous experience or qualifications in construction are not required but would be beneficial. Functional skills level 1 in literacy and numeracy (or equivalent) would also be beneficial but again are not essential.
