Job Description
Grade: Band D Lower Salary: 29,064 to 35,481 Closing Date: 24th June 2020 About the role: To provide a comprehensive CCTV / Imagery Service to Serious and Complex Crime Investigations, to assist investigating offices and other external agencies in the prevention and detection of crime. Main Duties and Responsibilities: * To provide a complete video editing service, including edited sequences, still images and video enhancement, to the highest standard, to assist investigating officers within the WMP and other specific external agencies including Barristers/ CPS. * Liaise with SIO's and investigators at crime scenes giving guidance on CCTV recovery / viewing, to ensure best policy is adopted. * To assist with the production of non-forensic audio editing packages, under the guidance of the Forensic Audio Specialists. * Provide training to WMP staff on all aspects of CCTV. * Undertake research and development of new and existing systems for use within the CCTV arena. * Evaluate media and imagery prior to the employment of external agencies. * Attend and if necessary, give evidence in court, including the installation and operation of video viewing equipment within the courtroom. * Maintain department equipment, carrying out minor servicing and repairs. * Keep abreast of current legislation and working practices. * Maintain appropriate records and filing systems to ensure integrity and continuity of evidence. * To ensure good practice relating to Health and Safety. * To support and work within a Quality Management System and fully understand the requirements and benefits of Forensic regulation and accreditation. * To perform internal audits as required in line with Quality Management. * To maintain a clean, operational working environment. Essential Requirements * Good IT skills with experience in the use of computer software and hardware. * Understanding of CCTV matters within the serious crime arena. * Proven experience and knowledge of the criminal justice system. * Proven communication, negotiation and presentation skills * Knowledge of video editing / enhancement / techniques. Desirable Requirements * An understanding of ID and recognition procedures and protocols. * A basic understanding of CCTV systems / players / files. * Ideally completed a TDC / ICIDP investigation training course. * Experience in serious / complex crime investigation. * Experience with Adobe Suite, mainly Premiere and After Effects * Experience with FFMPEG Additional Information * Required to work a shift system, covering the hours of between 07.00 -18.00 Monday to Friday. * The post holder will be required to drive force vehicles and will need a full UK driving licence. * Required to attend and pass appropriate training courses as and when required in order to develop the individual and the team. * Expected to comply with Health and Safety at Work Act, Fire Prevention Regulations and COSHH Regulations at all times.
