The Standard Life Assurance Limited (SLAL) Proposition Review Project aims to carry out an accelerated review of all SLAL products and their supporting propositions over a two year period. This will be completed alongside stand-alone thematic reviews which will investigate specific issues that cross multiple products and, potentially, blocks of business (SLAL / Phoenix). As we move into the next phase of our business as part of the Phoenix Group, we are recruiting for a motivated and experienced individual to join a newly set up programme of work as a Proposition Review Analyst. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping over 3.8 million of our customers to achieve good customer outcomes, ensuring that their and our regulators' expectations are met. You will support our business in doing the right thing for our customers - keeping them at the heart of everything we do and help us understand what actions we can take to make sure our propositions are performing the best that they can be. This team will work across Birmingham and Edinburgh - therefore travel may be required at times. THE ROLE You will be joining a team of data analysts to support the delivery of the overall programme of product reviews. Working with a number of stakeholders, you will produce data analyses profiling our business, customer behaviours and system processes. You'll source, gather, cleanse and analyse data to confirm that we are delivering against undertakings made to customers and enable selection of test cases. You will also collect, manage and distribute product information and provide technical assistance to the wider team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Producing analyses that are relevant, consistent and of the correct level of granularity using a variety of data tools for presenting information in the most appropriate form. Supporting the design and production of resources for product rules and data. Working closely with the Proposition Review team to understand their needs and support testing. Assimilating and interpreting information from a number of diverse, and sometimes inconsistent, sources. Cleansing data sets and formatting appropriately for optimum access and analysis. Producing commentary which is of a high standard and provides management with a clear understanding of underlying data, including context around any data anomalies. Providing technical assistance to colleagues in the use and understanding of data and analyses. Managing sudden changes to work priorities and working to tight and variable priorities and deadlines. Generating insight that supports improving customer outcomes and meeting regulatory requirements. SKILLS / EXPERIENCE Strong analytical, report writing and presentation skills, able to demonstrate a strong grasp of the task in hand. Attention to detail and an ability to work in a methodical and structured manner. Able to carry out numerical calculations and/or to understand what statistical analysis might be required; including the ability to draw insightful conclusions. Effective application of techniques to collect information and process it to facilitate and support key business processes and decisions. Knowledge of the life and pension industry with good product background. Exposure to legislative and regulatory requirements and issues. Strong Excel modelling skills together with good MS Office skills. Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative; with the ability to work both as part of a team and on their own. Strong planning and organisational skills - able to work well under pressure, balancing multiple priorities and preparing quality output under tight deadlines. Proactive, flexible and adaptable. Experience of databases, SQL and working in a customer or product area is desired.
