The Standard Life Assurance Limited (SLAL) Proposition Review project aims to carry out an accelerated review of all SLAL products and their supporting propositions over a two year period. This will be completed alongside stand-alone thematic reviews which will investigate specific issues that cross multiple products and potentially blocks of business (SLAL / Phoenix.) As we move into the next phase of our business as part of the Phoenix Group, we are recruiting for a motivated and experienced individual to join a newly set up programme of work as a Proposition Review Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping over 3.8 million of our customers to achieve good customer outcomes, ensuring that their and our regulators expectations are met. You'll support our business in doing the right thing for our customers - keeping them at the heart of everything we do and help us understand what actions we can take to make sure our propositions are performing the best that they can be. This team will work across Wythall and Edinburgh - therefore travel may be required at times. THE ROLE You will be leading each individual review of a group of SLAL products and their supporting proposition. You will use analytic skills on the data available to make informed decisions and understand where our key risks lie whilst looking for opportunities to improve the customer experience. Working with others, you'll assess whether propositions are being operated in line with our regulatory requirements and good customer outcomes are being achieved. As a skilled communicator and influencer, you will work collaboratively with different parts of the business to help us deliver each review on time with high quality output. You should have an excellent understanding of the current business, regulatory and customer environment, and proven financial services experience. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Lead each individual proposition review, writing up key findings into reports with recommendations or known issues sufficiently documented - Manage workload for self, working to defined and tight timescales taking into account resource constraints across the business - Ensure sufficient discussion with stakeholders prior to finalisation and sign-off of recommendations - Openly challenge and make suggestions for improvement on the controls and processes of own and dependent areas while maintain a positive and constructive relationships with effected areas / departments - Utilise both technical and business knowledge to support project in identifying key areas of risk and opportunities in order to aid senior management decision making and lead others - Identify scenarios and help to set requirements for testing of communications, calls and calculations - across paper, telephony and digital journeys working alongside the assurance testing team - Carry out overall assessment of value for money of propositions, taking inputs from commercial teams as appropriate - Apply commercial understanding of the business to appropriately assess findings and recommendations in relation to improving customer outcomes is aligned with business needs - Apply sound judgement in complex scenarios, ensuring sufficient depth of analysis in order to provide detailed interpretations and recommendations. This includes scenarios where there is a degree of uncertainty - for example where full data, MI or documentation is not available SKILLS / EXPERIENCE Experience - Good understanding and experience in the Financial Services sector and regulatory environment - Knowledge of financial products and their supporting processes, systems and procedures - Strong analytical and numeracy skills. Able to take data/information and turn into recommendations supported by sound reasoning - Strong planning and organisational skills - able to work well under pressure, balancing multiple priorities and preparing a quality output under tight deadlines - Results orientated, able to overcome adversity and a drive to deliver - Strong influencing skills, with a track record of engaging and influencing key functions across the business and senior decision makers.
