Job Description

The role.. This role sits within the Finance team which include areas such as Tax, Treasury, Management Accounts, Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable and Commercial Finance. As the ASOS group becomes more complex our obligations across the globe have become more widespread, there is a need for ASOS to strengthen our VAT capability. Reporting to the International Tax Manager, this role will support the tax team and our wider business stakeholders by providing technical VAT advice and guidance in support of the business operations. In addition, this role will work with our Finance technology team to ensure that our systems are able to report the correct VAT treatment What you'll be doing... * Providing VAT advice on business projects and ensuring that the tax team is enable to correctly report the impact of these projects * Managing Global VAT Risk and minimising the impact of that risk on both ASOS and its customers * Reacting quickly to legislative changes around the globe and ensuring that ASOS build the right systems and processes to ensure that ASOS can remain compliant with legislation * Identifying and correcting any VAT inefficiencies * Supporting the month end processes on a timely basis. * Liaise with and manage the working relationship with the Tax Authorities during routine audits and ad hoc enquiries. * Reviewing and developing methods of working and reporting systems to maximise efficiency and reduce the VAT liabilities where possible within the legislative framework * Inputting into the group's tax strategy What Success Looks Like... * Become the acknowledged VAT expert within the business * Clear backlog of open issues with differing VAT authorities * Identifying tax saving opportunities for the business * VAT accurately calculated within the Finance systems minimising the need for manual adjustments * Provide clarity for SAO that any VAT risk is sufficiently mitigated Qualifications, Skills & Experience : * CTA /ACA / ACCA qualified or equivalent (NQ as a guide only). * Specific VAT experience gained in either an advisory firm or in-house * Experience of EU VAT would be advantageous * Experience recommending and implementing process improvements * First class communication skills and the ability to resolve conflicting interests and work as a team. This role is looking for a true pragmatist. * The ability to work within and across teams, understanding and managing those teams different priorities and expectations * Able to prioritise and work in a fast paced, evolving environment * Strong VAT technical skills
