AIG's underwriters help to find insurance solutions for risks from a range of areas. Our market leading Energy and Construction team now has a rare opportunity for a Senior Construction Underwriter to join them based out of our London office. Your contribution at AIG In this role you will: * Underwrite new business to meet profitability targets. * Underwrite in line with the Energy & Construction governance framework e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines and Functional Rules. * Drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including Market Management, Risk Consulting, Claims and Operations. * Manage referrals and undertake 4-eye reviews with underwriters. * Contribute to the development and execution of regional underwriting strategy. * Create and maintain positive relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders. * Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued to producers. * Provide training and support to junior members of the Energy & Construction team. What we are looking for * Preferably, you have a degree either in Engineering/Construction, economics, law or other appropriate discipline. * Ideally you are ACII qualified or working towards it. * You will have extensive experience underwriting profitable business in the Engineering & Construction segment of a large corporate international insurance firm. * You have recognized relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and are well established within the market. * You have a specialized understanding of regional / local Engineering & Construction insurance markets and competitor landscape. * Capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective. * You have a good understanding of the legal and regulatory environment. * You can design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings for contracts. * Excellent negotiation skills, ability to build, maintain and expand relationship with key broker partners and clients. * Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. * You should be results-oriented.
