Job Description

We are looking for an experienced journalist who will play a key role in covering news events around the world both online and in print. There will be significant travel involved when covid-19 restrictions allow. This vacancy is a six month, fixed-term contract to cover a period of parental leave. Key responsibilities * Help lead the Telegraph's coverage of global affairs, reporting to the foreign desk. * Seek out exclusives and insightful dispatches, as well as breaking news, comment and analysis. * Focus on digital storytelling and use video clips and social media to develop and retain an online audience. * React to the demands of a 24/7 online news environment. * A readiness to travel at short notice will be expected. Requirements Essential skills required for the role * Significant journalistic experience of writing and editing for a newspaper or website. * Deep knowledge of and curiosity about world affairs. * Proven ability in filing clean copy to strict deadlines. * Interest in and knowledge of multimedia storytelling. * Experienced in both breaking news and delivering exclusives, comment and features. * Ability to keep calm under pressure and work autonomously in remote locations.
